I’ve met people who swear Organic Aloe Vera Juice helps their digestion and take it internally on a regular basis. I haven’t tried it that way yet, but I since I use aloe vera gel on my face everyday, this wasn’t that big of a leap for me. (Aloe Vera Gel uses a different part of the plant). One of the changes that I’ve noticed since the temp has dropped is that my witch-hazel and rosewater toner has been leaving my skin feeling a bit dry. I remembered that I had picked up some Organic Aloe Vera Juice recently, and sure enough, there it was at the back of the fridge when I went looking for it. So a couple of experiments later and my new toner was born.
This is so simple I don’t know why I haven’t tried it sooner.
- 1/8 cup Organic Aloe Vera Juice
- 1/8 cup Filtered water
- 2 drops of tea tree, peppermint, clary sage OR lavender essential oils*
- small bottle or jar to keep it in
Pour liquids into jar or bottle and shake to mix.
After washing your face, pat dry gently with a towel then let air dry the rest of the way. Then using a cotton ball to apply, gently swipe the toner across your face in an upward motion. It can last as long as 60 days in the refrigerator, but I make small batches so it never lasts that long. (That way I don’t have to remember when I made it). THIS is the aloe vera juice I used.
I’ve been using this method all winter and I love it! So far so good. My skin is happy, and it doesn’t seem as dry.
*Please note that you ONLY need to use a couple of drops of one of the essential oils listed. More than that could irritate your skin. If you have sensitive skin, you might want to try this toner without essential oils at oil to see how your skin reacts. If it’s fine, then and then try 1 drop of lavender to start with.
